Check Any PDF's Health in Seconds

Will this PDF open on the recipient's machine? Is it encrypted? How many pages, which version, what produced it — and does it even have selectable text? Run a full structural check locally in your browser and get a clear, honest health report in seconds — with a downloadable .txt summary for your records or your ticket system.

Drop your PDF here or click to browse

You can also paste from the clipboard (Ctrl+V)

Damaged files are welcome — that is exactly what this tool is for.

🔒 100% private: your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device.

How it works

  1. Drop one or more PDFs into the box above.
  2. Press Validate PDF. The structure is parsed and inspected locally, file by file.
  3. Read the verdict: healthy, warnings or damaged — with the details behind it.
  4. Optionally download the report as a .txt file.

Features

Structure check

Detects broken cross-reference tables and other structural damage that makes readers work overtime (or fail silently).

Encryption status

Tells you immediately whether the document is password-protected — the #1 reason “the file won't open” tickets happen.

Document intelligence

Page count, PDF version, producer software, title/author metadata and file size in one glance.

Text layer detection

Knows whether your PDF is searchable or a pure image scan — before you try to select text.

Downloadable report

Each check produces a clean .txt report, useful for support tickets and archives.

Supported formats. Accepts any .pdf (even partially damaged ones — that is the point). Outputs an on-page verdict plus an optional .txt report.

Common use cases

Limitations (honest ones)

This is a structural validator, not a PDF/A or accessibility (WCAG) conformance checker, and not an antivirus — a valid structure says nothing about the safety or legality of a file's contents. Repair capabilities are intentionally out of scope: if a file is damaged, re-export it from the source if possible.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the validator check?

Whether the PDF parses, page count, PDF version, encryption status, metadata (title, author, producer), presence of a text layer, and obvious structural damage. Everything is listed in the report.

My PDF opens fine but the validator found damage. Why?

PDF readers silently repair small structural problems on every open. That works until it doesn't — a damaged file that opens today may fail in another reader or after email transfer. Re-export a clean copy.

Is this an antivirus?

No. It inspects document structure only and never executes document content. It cannot tell you whether a PDF carries malware.

Does it check PDF/A compliance?

No — PDF/A validation requires rule catalogs far beyond structure. This tool answers “is the file healthy and what is in it”, not “is it archival-grade”.

Do you upload my PDF for inspection?

Never. Parsing happens in your browser; only the verdict and the numbers you see are displayed locally.
