Limitations (honest ones)

This tool produces lossy WebP: for most graphics the difference is invisible, but pixel-perfect palettes (e.g. 1-bit masks) may shift marginally — use quality 100% if that matters. Very old browsers (Safari ≤13, IE11) cannot display WebP.

Should I keep PNG for screenshots?

If your audience uses modern browsers, WebP at 85–90% looks identical and weighs 2–4× less. Keep PNG masters in your design tool, publish WebP.

Is transparency preserved?

Yes — unlike the PNG-to-JPG path, WebP supports an alpha channel, so shadows and rounded corners survive.

Why are my WebP files still large?

Photographic PNGs (like edited photos saved as PNG) have no flat regions to exploit; convert them to JPG or WebP at photo quality instead. Graphic PNGs always benefit most.

Can WordPress serve these directly?

Yes — upload WebP like any image. Modern CMS versions and CDNs accept and serve it natively.
