Turn Titles into Clean, SEO-Friendly URL Slugs

Paste one line or a hundred: every line becomes a clean slug — lowercase, accent letters folded (café → cafe), punctuation removed, words joined by your chosen separator, and length capped if you want. Clean slugs are small but real ranking and click-through factors: they tell users and search engines what a page is about, they survive being copied into emails, and they avoid the %20 soup that auto-generated URLs produce. Processing happens in your browser only.

One title per line → one slug per line, live. Hyphen is the SEO-friendly default.

🔒 100% private: everything runs inside your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

How it works

  1. Type or paste one title per line — the slugs appear live as you type.
  2. Choose a separator: hyphen (recommended for SEO) or underscore.
  3. Optionally cap the length in characters to keep URLs short.
  4. Copy the whole slug list, or take them one by one into your CMS.

Features

Batch mode

One title per line — generate slugs for an entire content plan in a single paste.

Accents folded properly

café → cafe, über → uber, déjà-vu → deja-vu: full Latin diacritics handled, not just ASCII.

Separator & length control

Hyphen or underscore, plus an optional character cap that cuts on a word boundary instead of mid-word.

Live, no button

Slugs update on every keystroke — edit a title, watch the slug fix itself.

100% local

Conversion is plain JavaScript on your device. Draft titles that nobody has seen stay that way.

Input & output. Input: any text, one title per line (any language with Latin script; non-Latin characters are dropped). Output: URL-safe slugs ([a-z0-9] + separator), one per line, in the same order.

Common use cases

Limitations (honest ones)

Slugs are built for Latin scripts: Chinese, Japanese, Arabic or Cyrillic characters are removed rather than transliterated (their pages are usually better served by transliteration services or romanized titles). Numbers are kept; emoji are dropped. The tool does not check whether a slug collides with an existing URL on your site.

Frequently asked questions

Hyphens or underscores in slugs?

Hyphens. Google has treated hyphens as word separators for years, while underscores historically join words (my_page read as mypage). Unless you have a legacy reason, use the default hyphen.

How long should a slug be?

Short and descriptive: about 3–5 meaningful words. Use the length cap to force it — the tool cuts on a word boundary so you never end mid-word.

Should slugs include stop words like “the” and “of”?

They are harmless, but removing them keeps URLs shorter with no meaning lost. Many style guides drop them; the choice is yours — consistency matters more.

Can I change the slug of an already-published page?

You can, but the old URL will 404 unless you set a 301 redirect from the old slug to the new one. For pages with traffic and backlinks, redirecting matters more than the prettier slug.

Do accents in URLs hurt SEO?

Modern engines handle percent-encoded accents, but they look messy when copied and break in some tools. Folding café → cafe avoids the %C3%A9 soup entirely — and is what most international sites do.
