Passwords are only as strong as their randomness — this generator uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not a math formula a cracking tool could guess. Pick a length, choose which character sets to include, optionally exclude look-alike characters (I, l, 1, O, 0) for passwords you will read off a screen, and generate one or a batch of ten. A live strength meter shows the estimated entropy in bits. Nothing is transmitted, logged or stored — the password exists only in your tab until you copy it.
Entropy shown after generating
🔒 100% private: everything runs inside your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
Built on crypto.getRandomValues with unbiased rejection sampling — the same class of randomness used for session tokens.
Uppercase, lowercase, digits and symbols — require each set so complexity rules are always satisfied.
Remove I, l, 1, O, 0 (and more) for passwords that stay readable on phones and paper.
Ten passwords per click for onboarding lists, Wi-Fi networks or team accounts.
Entropy in bits, from weak (< 40) to military-grade (100+), computed from length and charset size.
Generated in your browser with zero network access. No password ever touches a server, log or analytics script.
Input & output. Input: length (8–64), charset checkboxes, quantity. Output: one or more passwords as plain text — copy them straight into a password manager. Nothing is saved or transmitted.
Entropy estimates assume the password is truly random — reusing it across sites, emailing it, or shortening it destroys that strength regardless of what the meter says. A random password is hard to memorize by design: store it in a password manager, not on a sticky note. The generator cannot check if a password has already been leaked in a breach — a manager with breach monitoring adds that layer.
16 characters with all four sets (~100 bits) is a strong default for accounts; 12 is the practical minimum; 20+ for Wi-Fi keys, master passwords and anything guarding money. Length beats complexity: a long password with three sets outperforms a short one with four.
It uses crypto.getRandomValues — your browser's cryptographic RNG — with rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias. This is the same source browsers use for session keys. The code runs locally and can be audited in page source.
No. Generation happens in your tab; there is no server component, no logging, no analytics on the values. If you are paranoid (good), load the page, go offline, and generate.
I, l, 1 and O, 0 are routinely confused when a password is read from a screen, printed or dictated. Excluding them costs a little entropy but removes most human transcription errors — worth it for Wi-Fi keys and onboarding.
For things you must remember, yes: a 5–6 word random passphrase is memorable and strong. This tool makes character passwords; use a passphrase generator or diceware for memorable secrets — or memorize only your password-manager master passphrase.
